Learning about Growing Young.

‘Growing Young’ book standing upright on table.

Growing Young - what’s it about?

As a congregation we have been learning about Growing Young, a book and course by the Fuller Youth Institute which studied churches that were thriving and growing instead of falling away. They found common principles which any church can apply and it’s not about getting smoke machines and funky music. It’s about building an authentic Jesus-centred community.

As a congregation we went through a short sermon series in 2021 to explore the six principles and we are trying to implement all that we are learning. A small group of volunteers are taking part in the Fuller Youth Institute’s course. If you would like to join the group please contact admin@barclayviewforth.org.uk

We ran 7/8 week courses studying the book/videos in small groups to help dominate all we are learning - which lead to enthusiastic discussions - which in turn lead to our Bible Study group looking at ‘Rewilding the Church’ by Steve Aisthorpe. We want everyone to be part of this exciting journey of growing our church and welcoming more people into relationship with Jesus. If you would like to learn more or would like a copy of the book please get in touch with Julie at admin@barclayviewforth.org.uk

Growing Young Assessment Results.

Some of you may remember completing the Growing Young Assessment about Barclay Viewforth Church as part of our Growing Young initiative. Thank you to all who gave their time to take part. The Growing Young team are really grateful as we are taking these results into account as we consider the areas we particularly need to prioritise going forward. If you are interested you can read the full results by downloading the PDF below – or you can read some more detailed feedback and an update in the June Link magazine.

Our worship team bring joy to our services by leading us in singing praises to the Lord. We have a live band most Sundays.

Meals For Mums.
Aiming to provide new Mums and their families with 1-2 weeks’ worth of meals after their new baby arrives.  Knowing that an evening meal will arrive on the doorstep during this busy time can give parents one less thing to think about.  It’s also a great, practical way of showing God’s love within our Church family.

Flower Ministry.
As well as bringing cheer to our morning services, the team’s stunning displays are distributed to the sick and housebound, spreading the love of Jesus Christ throughout the community.

Welcome Team.
Our volunteers give visitors a very warm welcome at our doors. From greeting our regular visitors to answering questions from passers-by.

Tea and Coffee Rota.
After our Sunday morning service we invite people to join us for tea/coffee and some sweet treats. This invaluable time to meet new people and catch up with friends is made possible by the volunteers who make the refreshments. If you’d like to help please contact the office.
