Sunday afternoon will see folks from local churches (Tollcross/Bruntsfield area in Edinburgh) gather together with people from the local community for an afternoon of fun, food and friendship. Kings Church, Central, Bruntsfield Evangelical, Elim, Centrepoint and Barclay Viewforth churches will come together to put on this free event to bless the community. In doing so denominational differences will disappear as we show our unity in Christ. We may all have been blessed with different gifts of the Holy Spirit but we can come together and use them to further Christ’s Kingdom.
It’s been a real privilege to meet with folks from other churches as this event has been planned. We’ve laughed together, shared food and prayed together. It’s been great to unite our hearts in prayer for each other (and our fellowships) to our God who loves each and every one of us. We know from 1 Corinthians 12 that we are one body and that is Christ’s body here on earth. In an increasingly secular society Christians need to stand together. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ and for Sunday’s event.
I made use of a good acronym earlier this summer: TEAM – Together Everyone Achieves More. My hope is that Sunday afternoon will be a true demonstration of teamwork, with Jesus Christ leading our team, and that people will see Christ’s love reflected in our activities, our conversations and more.
The Big Day Out – fun in the sun and fun with the Son.
Have a blessed weekend.
