Barclay Viewforth Church congregation on Blackford Hill

News from The NET Missional Community

What’s been happening at the NET?

We have been continuing our study of The Apostles’ Creed on Thursday Evenings. Our last study was on 25th June and we will have a summer break with a new study series (still tbc) commencing in August so a perfect time to come along if you have considered it but not quite got round to it yet!

Our book groups have been reading J John’s book “What does God want of us?” Which considers Micah 6:8 and has had us considering what it means to act justly, love kindness and walk humbly with our God. The Tuesday afternoon book group is continuing to meet over the summer holidays and all are welcome even if you haven’t had a chance to read the book!

We also have the following activities planned for over the summer. It would be lovely to see folk there so please let Andrew, Alison or Kirsteen know if you are able to come to any of these and please especially note our encouragement to invite your friends along. We can be contacted face to face at church, on the email addresses below or on our Facebook page.

Summer Activities

Sunday 19 July  – brunch at the Bruntsfield hotel. Usual time of arriving any time after half 9 with a view to ordering before 10am (but it doesn’t matter if you are a bit later!) Please try and invite anyone who has not been previously who you think would like to come, whether BV or non BV. Very casual, chilled out (well as chilled as it can be with several children!) time to catch up and fuel up before church

Friday 31 July – girls’ night out. Venue to be confirmed but likely to be Bruntsfield or Morningside for meal and drinks from 7.30/8pm.

Sat 1 August– boys’ night out. As above but I expect will be a different location!

Sunday 16 August – BBQ on links immediately after church. This follows the success of the BBQ last summer  in Bonaly but we are hosting close to the church for ease of transport and so that it is extra easy for folk to invite people from church and outwith church, ideally beforehand but also on the day.

Have a good summer

Kirsteen, Andrew and Alison
