The team of pastoral assistants, led by our Pastoral Associate Elaine Hogan, takes the care of the elderly, housebound, sick and those with other needs very seriously. Regular visiting at home or in hospital, phone calls, delivering of the church magazine and Sunday flowers and generally being there for those who find it difficult to get to church or have other needs, all come within the team’s remit. The team meets every 6-8 weeks for mutual support, encouragement and training.
Part of the development of the team has seen a move to “team ministry”, where 2 or 3 people might be appointed to look out for an individual who may have particular difficulties or require extra support.
The Pathways Bereavement Support programme was established in response to the needs of people from the community.
