The summer break has provided rest and relaxation for the team, and now we are ready to get going again and plan for the first of our autumn meetings on Tuesday 6 September.
We were very sad to hear of the sudden death in July of Paul Merchant, whose work was tireless in Prospects and beyond, and from whom we had received much encouragement on starting out with Connect Plus. Two of our members were particularly upset as they had known Paul for a long time, and they will have been heartened as I was to see so many old friends attending his memorial service in Musselburgh.
On 11 September we hope to mark “Ability Sunday” with a special morning service in Barclay Viewforth Church, using the resources provided by Prospects. We would be glad of your prayers as we seek to know how best to use these and to involve as many of our members as possible (most have live church connections elsewhere).
Another step in faith will be a social outing later in the year, as our usual venue in the Pillar Hall will be otherwise occupied. This will be a new venture for us, knowing how much our members value consistency in our meetings.
As ever, we would warmly welcome any of the congregation who would like to join us, and if you know of anyone in the community who may benefit from coming along to see what we are up to on a Tuesday evening, please speak to me or any of the team.
